Most of us get promoted to Lead because we were the best at the technical “hard part“, writing the cleanest code or building the most resilient infrastructure. But here’s the reality: if you keep acting like a Senior Engineer with a fancy new title, you’re going to fail. You’ll become a bottleneck, your team will stagnate, and you’ll end up hating the job.
In my latest live session, I broke down the framework for surviving the transition from IC to Lead. The core takeaway is simple:
If you aren’t a Lead yet, you need to start acting like one today to get the job tomorrow.
You don’t get the title and then change; you change, and then the title becomes an inevitability.
